    10 Day Europe trip

your pictures are postcard quality!!! did you have to use a tripod most of the time? see that you stitched most of the pics. guess i wont have time to use tripod since going on a package tour. haha, yeah, the estimate is spending about 22hrs on the bus for the whole tour, i'm a bit weird but...

    10 Day Europe trip

i'll be getting extra batteries for my trip too. but rather than getting an original battery (not very keen to get 3rd party batteries), was wondering whether a battery grip that can take AA batteries might be more useful. any advice here?

    10 Day Europe trip

actually its always good to have some extra zoom. but agreed that the all-in-one zoom lens is pretty heavy. personally, i'll bring all 3 lenses since its a tour anyway and can store stuff on the coach. and a super zoom is good to take candid shots (of strangers, hehe) from a distance don't...

    10 Day Europe trip

i'm going on a tour too, too lazy to plan free-and-easy :bsmilie: going round switzerland, germany, france, amsterdam, luxembourg, belgium going with dynasty travel 12D9N, almost 3k per pax including taxes, yours is definitely better deal i guess the good thing about tour is that you can...

    10 Day Europe trip

hey, this deal is really very good, it is 10D7N or 10D8N? but do take note of hidden costs such as so called 'optional' tours that can add up loads also, the quality of the hotels and food might leave much to be desired, unfortunately many agencies only tell you 3-star equivalent and there...

    P & S as backup

if you are willing to spend more, i was thinking one of those water-resistant/dust-resistant/cold-resistant cameras might give you better peace of mind ;) i guess the point here is you want something portable that can capture memories if your dslr fails? and image quality probably won't be top...

    18 - 250 Sigma vs Tamron

the sigma also does AF hunting quite a bit, but felt the tamron might be a bit slower and having used the sigma for some time, i must admit that the OS on the sigma is not that excellent, so if OS/IS/VC is very important to you, the tamron might be a better choice online sigma sample pics...

Can someone advise what is the normal lifespan of a DSLR camera?

i tot the mirror remains flipped up during live view? it does flip down and up everytime you take a shot though, but didnt really think it contributed much to the shutter count. having said that, i still refrain from using live view.... somehow i have this idea (probably wrong) that exposing...

    18 - 250 Sigma vs Tamron

or are you referring to the Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical? i've looked at both lenses for a short while (did not rent) and ended up getting the sigma instead. also did quite a bit of research online. i can't really remember the price for the tamron but its quite similar...

    P & S as backup

btw, such high ISO values for PnS camera probably will give quite noisy images so should not really be taken into consideration?

    P & S as backup

i guess a PnS as a backup does not need to be too good sort of deliberating over the same issue and at less than 300, i've been looking at the Canon A1100 IS (RPP $299, probably can get it cheaper elsewhere) but not yet committed Pros: Uses AA batteries (great backup if even your batteries...

In search of a cheap zoom lens. Help is needed! :D

if you dont mind changing lens, then canon 55-250 is a good option that you can get <$400 first hand otherwise if you want 2nd hand, can look for the canon 18-200, sigma 18-250, tamron 18-270. that said, image quality might not be so good for these all in one zooms, although price range...

    Constant f2.8 lenses

constant aperture lenses definitely come at a premium other than the convenience of not having to worry too much about exposure settings when you zoom in and out, i think the more important reason for getting one is to consider under what kind of conditions you are going to use this lens for...
