Hello CS

Could anyone recommend me a place to repair my Contax G1

There seems to be something wrong with the mechanics as it can’t unwind.

I have brought it the camera hospital and was recommended not to fix it as there might be some problems with the shutter as well.

I have called Hilo and Camera workshop and both have said they don’t have the parts to do it.

Would like to just get a second opinion!

have you tried P&G? there are 2 outlets - one at peninsula, diagonally opposite BenPhoto. the other is at B1 of adelphi. they will give you a free quotation on repairs if they can do it.

otherwise, camera hospital at sunshine plaza @ bencoolen street is another option.

De Camera Consultant at Grandlink Square is worth considering too. They fixed my OM1 back then.

You may want to consider sending to this company in Japan. They were formed by former Pentax repair engineers and specialists. Can write to them.

Probably too late as you may have got it serviced already. But if you have not yet done it and still looking for a definitely qualified person to service Contax cameras, there is a pax in England that i am aware is fully and technically qualified to service Contax cameras. i need somewhere to fix my epl6 too. such a shame. i know its not a very expensive thing but i hardly used it and still looks brand new. Shutter fires but it follows with a strange whirling sound and no image captured! Everything else is good, lcd, focusing, touch screen

Olympus wouldn't repair it ....

We waste so much of the world's resources
