Summilux to make you cry...

Hi,

So I was gifted this lens by a veteran photographer/old family friend; a Leica 50mm f1.4!

And I was so happy when I learnt that I was going to receive it. Because I probably will not be in a position to buy one for myself.

Once I had it though, I was gutted. It is is HORRIBLE condition, with fungus and generally dirty looking. I'll let the photos tell the story. I made one photo with this using an adapter on a Sony A7III and it was really hazy and unusable.

My question is, how do I go about getting this lens serviced? and around how much would I have to spend, approx?

if u want it repaired really well, send it overseas. try Youxin Ye in US. he is known to do good work on leicas.

Thanks Nightwolf. I dont really want to send it anywhere, just thought I would get it in done in SG. Not a good idea?

I sent an email to Camera Hospital with some pics. No reply yet, I think I will take the lens there and let them see it and advise me. If the repair cost is goin to be too high, I will just keep it as a memento.

I wonder what is the ballpark valuation for this lens (in good condition) is, so I know how much I should go upto for repair?
