[pinholecam] From Alps to Ocean - A bicycle/photo log

Really an adventure!

Thanks , yes it was quite an adventure.
Sleeping out with an unexpected cold of -5C when my sleeping bag was only rated down to 5C, eating whatever I had in the bag for lunch since I could not find any place to buy any, mountain/hill climbs that just stretched on and on.
But the scenery was just wonderful and I enjoyed the challenge of the journey.

I finally reached the town of Oamaru near sunset.
Not too soon either as the clouds had been gathering for a day and rain was imminent.
So decided to just head to the accommodation and get a good hot meal after a full day of riding.
The next day was really fantastic and I took my time going around town to snap more shots.

Cabin in the Cosmos

It was a long ride with quite a few long climbs and I was starting to have doubts about my booking for the night.
The accommodation was a distance away from the main town road (a one street town) and the additional climbing I had to do made me think if I made the right choice as the day was coming to an end.

However, when I arrived and saw the cabin, I was immediately energized.
A nice old school bus converted to a cabin with its own wood fireplace, cozy bed and kitchen.

Not to mention the photographic potential when the clouds blew off and the stars were revealed...

Jen Kwang, did i read you correctly that you'd spent the night in this desolate outpost accommodation in what appear to be a abandoned derelict bus?
You are indeed tough as nails, an IRONMAN!!

Ahh, this is more like where I'd like to visit, not densely populated but with enough folks to form a community.
This pictorial series is captivating, Jen Kwang. Kudos to you.
