    d700 95% reduced viewfinder

Understand the metering mechanism is inside the prism house, probably together with focusing screen before prism assembly but no indication that which area was covered. Could be 100%, 95% or selective zones... Kindly enlighten me. Got to my mind that metering in live view is an another story.

    d700 95% reduced viewfinder

Sometime I still prefer 100% when I shoot harsh backlit-at-corner condition. Try to frame/zoom out by looking at viewfinder but this strong light from 5% participates in matrix metering and got unplesant result. Although spot/center metering could resolve, I still wish the flavor of matrix mode.

    JB trip with Nikon D700

I went there alone by a bike last year. It was my 1st exploring trip intended for photo taking. Hook my DSLR on my neck during riding and walking to all attraction points, so far nothing suspicious was observed. I stayed up to 8pm waiting for clear of traffic jam. Anyhow, it's all depends on...

I went to a friend's wedding last weekend with D700, SB900, 17-35 f2.8 (rented), 50 f1.4, 80-200 f2.8D. Here is my sharing - - All group/couple shots are feasible with 50mm, so far no problem. - 17-35mm is good for overall composition taken from the room corner, etc.. - The group shot with...

    Teleconverter

Used Kenko Teleplus 2x converter with 80-200 AF-D before, autofocus still works but is terrible slow compared to without this device, not possible for sport shots with moving subject. Image quality is compromised with lot of softness even in daylight condition, I found. May be because of the...

Can check shutter count before payment?

My D700 was bought from a reputable shop in Funan, tested basic function/controls, checked dead/hot pixel in 3" screen with few shots but never audit for shutter count as being very reliable retailer. After quite long time, just found that the very first picture taken for dead/hot pixel...

    How effective is VR?

I believe shutter speed is influrenced by: - Subject movement In shooting a moving subject, shutter speed is solely determined by this (how you want to freeze - moving car or water fountain,..). - Camera movement/shake We simply calculate by 1/focal-length for slowest speed. However VR...
