Hi, I'm going in harsh winter (only time I'm free), any one have any tips on what areas not to miss, to avoid or what to take note of etc? And I think it's going to rain at least 50% of the time... any one have good advice on what I can do / what gear to bring so that I can still take photos...

Hi, I'm a newbie to photography and I joined iStockphoto as a contributor a little while back but I'm not very successful (only a few downloads over a few months). Does anyone here use or contribute to this stock photography site and would like to share their experiences? My blog that talks...

The funny thing is that I think even the winners didn't think they would win, since almost 50% of the winners didn't stay back. Shows how the judges choices are a little "different" from what people would judge. (Not saying that is bad, because the masses are not always right, but just interesting)

Personally I have no objection to any in camera processing since it was defined in the rules. I only don't really like any that was done off camera. Btw, I feel B&W photos aren't even considered processing, since it is available in camera... I was referring to things that clearly isn't possible...

Some of the winning photos look totally post processed and a lot of them do not relate to the theme at all (even abstractly). I don't understand how it is allowed to win. (BTW, I am not whining because I know I don't have a chance to win with my mediocre skills even if they let me post process...

That's great! Even though my photos won't be able to compare with everyone else's but at least the effort would not be wasted then :D

Is that true? Last time I went (over a year ago), I kept having to play hide and seek with the security guards. They didn't even allow me to take photos without a tripod. But I guess the rules have changed since then. Maybe I should go again then. But could anyone here confirm? Thanks...

Looking at my photos I can't even select 5 which are in focus, not to mention 10 :cry: I really need to practice a lot more. I saw some of the photos you guys posted on flickr - really nice!

The one with basic DSLR and pop up flash would be me... haha... :embrass:

So how did everyone do for the shoot today? :) I took it as a learning experience since I don't even know how to use my flash. I even had one of the artiste reminding me that it wasn't firing off etc. :embrass:

Maybe everyone will be selected and then the prizes will be a few magazines ;) Grand prize will be a year of magazines. :bsmilie:
