Where/how do you verify if a lens has deteriorated?

Hi all, Some months ago, I accidentally dropped my Nikon 10.5mm full-frame fisheye lens. It still works OK, focuses, no scratch, etc. But I have this nagging feeling that images are slightly more blurred than they used to be. What is the best way to check if my lens is "faulty"? Would the...

My 'Nuaring' and 'Rojak' macro series is back...lol

Wow! Incredible series! Amazing  So... you and Melvyn go macro hunting together sometimes, right? (I recognize the trapdoor spider :p). I erm, would be shameless and ask: do you guys take apprentices/guests on your expeditions?

    Jumping spiders diner for 2

Thanks for the comment hyperFocal! I won't pretend I'm know anything of jumping spider's psychology, but I didn't get the feeling they were particularly happy to share. Mostly both spiders and the fly were completely stationary (spiders sucking fly's fluids I suppose), but in a few instances...

    Jumping spiders diner for 2

Thanks 1912123! Your feedback is much appreciated! These shots are taken with the kit diffuser of my sb900. I've gotten myself the diffuser below, so hopefuly my next pics will have softer light :). Plus of course I need to learn to control these situations better :p.

    Jumping spiders diner for 2

Hi there! I'm just starting out with macro photography (d300s + tamron 90mm + kenko tubes), I stumbled upon 2 jumping spiders sharing a fly yesterday and managed to make some shots I was happy with. Here goes, any comment welcome :) The pics are taken at my kid's playground...

linux + dcraw: color profile for Nikon D60?

Hi Marian, Sorry I missed your reply entirely. Unfortunately no, I still have not found that secret sauce either. I've kind of halted my searches since my initial post because the photo management software I use in linux (kphotoalbum: http://www.kphotoalbum.org/) was able to show me the raws...

linux + dcraw: color profile for Nikon D60?

Hi all, [disclaimer: I'm a total newbie with DSLR photography and raw formats] I purchased recently a Nikon D60 and I was happily shooting in jpeg. After reading an article about how saving to jpeg discards a lot of info compared to what was captured from the CCD, I decided I would shoot...
