    Uneven edges on 120 negatives

Mysteriously, my 4th roll came out perfect - edges straighter than straight lines...part of the great Seagull mystery I guess!

    cropping on enlarging

    6 X 1.5 = 9. So, I guess Super 6R is not in the 35mm negative ratio, unless you made a typo.

    Uneven edges on 120 negatives

I'll try and attach a pic of the camera back tomorrow. I do not see anythign 2 1/4 "square with springs - there is a plate about 3" square attached to the camera back with screws / studs.

    cropping on enlarging

that explains it - which size is exactly proportional to 4R then?

    cropping on enlarging

Konota cropped my 35mm negatives (without my asking them to do so) pretty significantly while enlarging to 6R. Is this something to be expected when making 6R prints? I would have thought that something which prints without cropping on 4R should print without cropping on 6R.

    Uneven edges on 120 negatives

Hi Ektar, Yes, perhaps a better way to describe it is that the image is straying into the margin area. This is happening for rolls that I develop myself, as well as for rolls that I got developed at Ruby. It is happening consistently.

    Uneven edges on 120 negatives

I am getting uneven edges (negative boundaries) when I develop 120 6X6 film. What could be the reason? My 35mm negatives give perfect straight line edges. I use a Seagull 405A for 120 mm.

    35mm or 28mm?

thanks Tetrode, as I have mentioned in my original post I'll be using it mostly for streetscapes. 20mmm or 24mm may be a bit too wide for that.

    35mm or 28mm?

I have a 50/1.8. I was thinking about the 24/2.8, but wondered if the 35/2 was a better option due to the higher speed.

    35mm or 28mm?

    35 mm film.

    35mm or 28mm?

I am considering buying a wide angle lens and cannot make up my mind between 35mm and 28 mm. Can anyone suggest pros/cons? I'll be using it most for streetscapes.

Getting 6X4 negatives from 120 film in a Seagull

Is there anyway to shoot 6x4 negatives on a Seagull TLR? The default seems to be 6x6.

    Paid too much for Seagull?

Thanks, all, for the comments and consolations :-) I developed my first two 6X6 120 rolls and was AMAZED by the quality of the two frames where I managed to get both the focusing and the exposure right. (I have been spoilt by automatic SLRs). I realize that this is more due to medium format...

Seagull TLR film advance / shutter ****

All material I have seen on the net on the Seagull 4A-105 indicates that a 360 degree rotation of the advance lever advances the film to the next frame AND cocks the shutter. HOwever, when I try this, the film does get advanced, but the shutter is NOT cocked (I cannot press the release button) -...
