IMO, too close for bowling/volleyball and basketball (70-200 would be perfect). 300/400 better for Track n Field if you're shooting from away on the spectator stand, but you'll be limited to distances far away - anything too close, you'll be forced to frame very tightly. Btw both 300/400 is...

Coz TS only has D600 and D800 in his sight... Otherwise, D7K (yes it's a crop) or D700 is more than enough for landscapes. D700 a hell lot more versatile!

D600 is more of an all-rounder than D800. Should be more than enough to handle Landscapes... afterall, it's already 24MP (bigger than any of the competing models currently other than D800). But as I've said you don't really need 24MP to shoot landscapes, 12, 14, 16MP models can already do a...

of course got marnee to afford, D800E! But as it is not an easy beast to handle handheld, best get a good enough tripod.

should check the new lens being announced... under US$200... 18.5mm/1.8 FF equivalent of 50mm/1.8 I think this lens has some potential. Check the sample images out.

Tammy 24-70 users be careful... one inner element is just glued on... (not sure they fixed this issue on your version yet)... if shake too hard... can become "tilt-shifted" variant...

Yes it should generally mean with TCs. Previously no one would consider extending 300/4 with a 2x. Now with D4, 800 n soon 600, it is a reality... Yea u should be able to AF with f/8 but in low lights (which I forgot to mention earlier) it will start to hunt.

Nope, it means u still can AF with f/8! Previous bodies before D4 n D800 will have issues with f/8 particularly low light situation.
