Many thanks Anson for the quick reply. Great that there's no flash shadow problem if hood is not used. I will consider buing this combo rather than the default 18-55 IS lens.

Wish to check for the above combination of 500D + 18-200 IS lens, does the built in flash cast any shadow on the picture when the lens is at its widest 18mm setting? Thanks!
