First of all, 50mm lens is definitely not a correct lens to use for a runway shoot, though it may be a sharp lens with a wide aperture. I would suggest a longer range zoom lens, eg 70-200mm f2.8. As for flash, if possible, save up and go for the 58 instead. It will offers you a wider uses...
