Great start. Eventhough the 50mm f/2 lens gives you lots of light, you need tripod for razor sharp photo. Alternatively, add a TTL flash. Note that adding 25mm tube will make your working distance closer but you will have more problem if you don't use tripod or flash...

Tom, Try 2 things; 1) use selective autofocus point for focusing the main subject 2) Put your mode to Macro by zooming the lens to get the yellow flower sign ( I have that in my Coolpix 4500). You should get a sharp photo. John at www.natureatwork.net

Hi, Love the the pleasing pictures of your aquarium. You may want to check the focusing point of your Nikon to lock the focus of the main subject to get it sharp. ( If you look at the shrim , it seems soft on the focusing ). I got friends crazy about fish. Will tell them about your photos...
