As a newbie in SLR, I am happy with my 2-month old D40. It's light & versatile. Taken hundreds of shot, & some shots blown up to A4 size. I am happy with the image quality. The lower 6mp has really no bearing to the image quality.

Please count me in! I just got my D40 at COMEX: $1199 bundled with 55-200mm VR lens, with freebies like trip, Nikon bag, & other small little things. After many weeks of serious consideration, I took up D40 instead of D40x.

Yup! I took the deal of D40 at COMEX. It's $1199 bundled with AF-S 55-200mm VR & many freebies. Before, I did asked for D40x, which is $1188 with SB-400, & need to top up $399 for the 55-200mm VR len. I therefore went for the D40 deal.

yah, the strength of Fujifilm is Super CCD HR or SR. A normal CCD will make no differentiation from the other brands. Any news about a new S-series with Super CCD HR? may be replacement for S6500 or S9100?

I am a F30 user. IMHO, the strength of Fujifilm F-series is the quality of its Super HR CCD sensor. The crisp, sharp pitcure & rich in colour came from its good sensitivity & DR with good noise control. I seen those pictures taken by Cannon Ixus (with higher megapixel) at the same occassion...

Recently, I printed a few large batches of S12R photographs at Grace Lab. The print outs are just excellent with good colour matching. I am very happy with the result. Thanks, Simon! Cheers!

AP/SP modes in point & shoot camera really brings it to close to DSLR. If F40 is without these features then its not a niche anymore for Fujifilm, despite the 2 mp increase. I would stay with my F30.

Hi, my view is, whether you see photography is arts or mere fact recording process. In the perspective of arts, using software to enhance the effect is a must, same spirit as the conventional darkroom. To me, photography is arts, & I used a lot of post processing. :D

you may want to try Grace photo lab at Sunset way...price's reasonable.

I used Fujifilm F30. The max exposure time is 15 Sec using Night Scene mode. Using Aperture priority will be max 3 Sec. Exposure compensation from -2 EV to +2 EV. at a step of 1/3 EV.
