I heard that there is a DK 17M for D2 cameras that provides a 1.2x magnification of the viewfinder.
What about the D70? Is it able to use the dk17m with an adapter? Or is there a particular eyepiece for it?

To avoid exposure cunfusion, the aperture can be stopped down in bright light. "Constant" doesnt mean it is 2.8 FIXED and you cannot stop down. It just means that 2.8 is the widest aperture available at all focal lengths.

SB600 is sufficient. SB800 is not tt a great deal if you do not use the CLS. Anyway I feel CLS is not tt important. I would rather use bowens or elinchrome. And I am not really in need for the higher guide number.
If I can do events with a SB600, I dont see why you cant. So save that money if...
This is often a brand biased statement. I am a Nikon user myself, and I can say that not all nikkors are sharp and there are sigmas that are sharp. Never use brand names as a judgement to portray sharpness. :nono:

You may wish to try baking soda paste with some warm water. It usually works on clothings. Check for colour fastness.
