Btw, I just went in late Sept. Weather was fantastic but the waterfalls have eased off. You should check what attractions are there within Yosemite in Nov. I don't think there are autumn colours coz its evergreen. But I am sure throughout the year, it will still be fantastic.

some shops allow you to buy the kit lens at a later date if you change your mind. not all shops though. anyway, kit lenses are cheap and I thought your friend has one already?

Very impressive series. Quite different from the BKK we all experienced. I go there once or twice a year but spend it mostly on street photography. Could consider some cityscapes next time.

I use the SLR-Zoom model and find it very useful for night scenes, taking light trails on overhead bridges, etc. Sometimes, as it's not that cumbersome, it attracts less attention compared to tripod, which are not allowed in some tourist attractions.
