It seems that the problem might be caused by the glue between the sensor and cover glass. Leica will be issuing an official response to the sensor problem tomorrow.

You mean Leica Partners with Red Bull Illume (Again)? They've done this every year since 2010 (at least). While you may not think of Leica in the context of action - or sports - it's good exposure for them, basically in their own back yard. Why do companies sponsor F1 teams? Same reason.
