you won't loose out 1 year warranty if you getting canon gear... at most 6 months with their tourist warranty (6 month international coverage) only draw back is to make a trip to canon servicing center to register fyi

just back from HK bought canon s95 from wing shin. quoted hk$3180 (sg$513 based on 6.2 exchange rate) with 8gb sd card, extra 3rd party batt and neoprene casing. walked over to the next street to man shing and was quoted hk$100 more therefore went back to wing shin & closed the deal without...

17-55mm/f2.8. Reasonably wide without much distortion, most importantly, the constant 2.8 helps with my camera limitation, poor high ISO, that is.

I encountered similar problem before but its with my memory card, not hard drive. Had no choice but to reformat it and then recover the data/picture in using recovery software. Be prepared to fork out $$$ if you want to engage commercial service because they charge by per kilobyte recovered.
