    AF 50mm 1.8

Just FYI, I use a 55mm/2.8 AIS Micro Nikkor, and have owned and sold the 60mm 2.8 AFD and AF-S. The AF-D has quite bad ca at non-macro distances, and I generally never correct for ca with my lenses - perhaps an indication of how bad that lens is. It is particularly bad when you shoot with...

    AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G or AF VR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D is better?

I think you'll need to state the kind of photography you are doing..... These two lenses are so difficult to compare. If you need faster AF, don't need the range, 70-300VR. If you need 400mm, the 70-300VR is... useless at 400mm. I think the 70-300 also has a closer MFD, so for the same focal...

    AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

@OP: Its a good lens, I use it most of the time if I "travel". However like some of the other posters have mentioned, you need to figure out your shooting style. When I went on tour with my kakis, one was purely using 10-20mm (sigma) for street shooting, I was with my 16-85, another kaki was...

Looking for a good place for digital prints

Hi there! It makes little difference what lab I prefer, because everyone's monitor is different, and probably calibrated differently, and most likely using different light sources. I have 2 monitors for photo processing, and both give me slightly varied outputs even though they are all...

Looking for a good place for digital prints

Hey guys, Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. What I did was to send the same print files I printed in Adelaide to the usual suspects in the city and to ML as well (Printed 8x12, 5x7 ins, 3 nature photos, 1 portrature to 5 different labs.) All of them were told not to do color...

Looking for a good place for digital prints

Thanks guys! I've been using ML from before, however the pro shop in adelaide has much better color accuracy. I guess I'll just need to try the other shops around the city, if not just order in from abroad. Cheers!

Looking for a good place for digital prints

Hey guys! Could I please get a recommendation for a lab in Singapore that gives you a good screen/print match? My system is color calibrated, workflow is in sRGB. I've had a really good run with a pro shop in Adelaide, but now back in SG and wanna get some 8x12ins printed. Thanks! Alvin

Worth the upgrade from D200 to D300

Why I want a D300 a) Cleaner high iso == can print much bigger. b) Cleaner high iso == can shoot in more varied light c) Faster AF == more keepers perhaps? Why I don't want a D300 yet a) D200 kick serious arse. ISO1600 is fine for 8x12in prints with raw. I print 8x12s regularly with the...

Is there anyway to process slightly out-of-focus shots?

Wavelet Sharpening: http://registry.gimp.org/node/9836 NB: I'm on osx and that version of gimp already comes with it installed. On linux I had to compile. I don't use windows so I have no idea on that platform. Background: http://keithwiley.com/astroPhotography/imageSharpening.shtml...

Light grey version of the 300mm/4 AF-S

Hmmmm CP came back 2k sgd w/o gst, digital rev out of stock. I think I'll just settle with the black edition and wrapping a towel or something around the lens barrel when things get too hot. Too bad there is no sun screen equivalent for cameras lol. Cheers!
