Looking at the leaked press text from 43 rumors on the Olympus E-M1 Mk3
..New image processing engine [NEW]
..20.4 megapixel Live MOS sensor (not new)
..World’s best image stabilisation (7 stops) [NEW....slightly less than E-M1x]
..High-speed, high-precision autofocus [NEW?]
..Face Priority/Eye Priority AF (not new)
..Starry Sky AF [NEW]
.SSWF (Super Sonic Wave Filter) (not new)
..Handheld 4K video [NEW]
..Weather sealing (not new)
It seems to have a mix of new and old features.
From the released E-M1x and pending release of its 150-400lenses with built in 1.25 TC
(can zoom to 2000mm with 2.0TC), it is quite clear that Olympus is going to focus on
its strong point of super-tele advantage.
- the 150-400 is equal to 300mm to 800mm on FF camera and this is a superb range for
birding and wildlife photographers plus the 7 stops & faster tracking enable handheld
shooting of moving animals with ease
- reaching up to 2000mm with 2x TC is good for Astro photography, and that is why
the new Starry Sky mode
Like the E-M1x, I guess the E-M1 Mk3 is targeted to the users for the above photography
but prefer a small body with a detachable vertical grip.
Personally, I am using EM5 Mk3 at the moment for street photo, hiking, macro and occasional
birding as the EM5 is very light and weather sealed. The E-M1 Mk3 does not really appeal to me
until I have more time to spent on wildlife and astro photography
What do the rest think?
