Tempted ,but my cheapo Weifeng/E-image 717s refuse to die.

I would advise a little caution. I have the older 7063H - love it! Small, durable and pretty smooth. Better than any 75mm bowl Manfrotto hands down. Only issue was it could not tilt very much - 45 deg max. I got the Gh06 thinking that it would be better as it was a newer model (plus the tilt angles was much improved). Not really! Can't complain about smoothness and lack of backlash but durability is a let down. I look after my gear but this one started giving problems within a year - 360 degree pans would not hold level all the way through and I couldn't find a way to fix that so now its relegated to locked-off duty. It'll beat the Sachtler ACE series in handling but I'm not sure if it'll last as long. I think the Sachtler FSB series is still the gold standard.

Thanks for the honest field report! Good to know the options available out there. As always, we get what we pay for.

I have the Varavon version of the 717 also. Those 717 series you definitely get more than what you pay for!
