Southern Lights with Alex & Wilson

A lot of people have tried shooting Auroras in Iceland and we are planning a trip to Australia to do the same at a much cheaper cost. With a student-instructor ratio of maximum 1:4, the workshop and practical will bring participants to the beautiful Tasmania.

And why Tasmania and not Iceland? The advantage of shooting Southern Hemisphere is because the Milkyway core is in full view during the middle of the year and hence it is possible to shoot both the Southern Lights and Milkyway together in a same frame. The aurora is also not a confirmed phenomenon but at least with a much longer night time from 4pm, there's a higher chance of catching it. Worst case scenario is we still have the Milkyway core as the subject matter, weather permitting.

Depends on your luck. Northern lights are more popular but the southern lights, mostly view from far (there are some photos of it over the NZ lakes too) I been following this link for southern lights

I mostly will be going solo there for a month and have 2 nights for the southern lights. Maybe I might be able to view it at Mount cook also. Hopes can capture it, G1 (5) would be ideal for it,

For a greater chance, you gotta plan towards Winter. It's kinda a give and take because your days are significantly shorter too!
