Rocket Attack Foiled

Seems like I came to CS at the right time. Since becoming a member I have seen stories about SG more and more on American radio and news. Today I heard a terrorist rocket attack on you has been foiled. This is such great news. I do not want to see that BS happening anywhere but particularly there on the little red dot.

Some idon idiot tried to do a Hamas on us... but highly unlikely they have the technology or the skill to make a rocket that could fly 20km and still have the accuracy to hit anything....

Hamas had years of trying and help from Iran to develop their long range rocket to hit Israel... beside, SAF do have Iron Dome for their use... and Indonesia is not some failed state where militant get a free hand in launching rockets almost daily.... :think:

News report said SG knew about planning stages way in advance...you must have some powerful spy capabilities or like you say those dudes were amateurs. Well...capital punishment is a good thing in my books and great deterrent to this sort of activity.

I think amateur is the keyword.... while we share intelligence with regional power... I really doubt either has really powerful 'spying' abilities...

Singapore has always been the odd one out in the region... a multi-race, multi-religion nation where we mostly lived in peace for decades... for supporters of ISIS, JI or any of the many terrorist organization... we will always be a good target.

Hiding under our beds won't keep us any safer... remaining quiet as some suggested, won't keep us any safer....

True. "share intelligence" is the key to prevent terrorist attack. I believe that the reason why USA have failed in this part is because it pissed off everybody when they spy on everybody including its allies.

Their NSA collected tons of e-mail SPAM and failed to prevent terror attack.

Now, they must built a Rocket in secret... then have to 'Hijack a boat... then have to mount the rocket firmly onto the boat... than have to calculate the movement and rocking of the boat on water to get the correct firing position... not forgetting getting into Singapore water to give them the maximum chance... which meant sneaking pass the Coast Guard or Navy...

Sneaking into SG is difference from firing a rocket mounted on a boat into SG... beside, going through the whole process of building a rocket... hijacking a boat... bypassing coast guard and/or Navy... to shoot a homemade rocket with limited explosive capability (even those used by Hamas isn't as deadly as most would think) and limited accuracy....

When they could travel into SG as tourist.... rent a Van/Car/Mini-Bus... use the vehicle to ram into pedestrian like in Nice, France...


While we must not take our safety for granted.... this Rocket from Batam plan seems to me like a bad 60s James Bond movie plot... over engineered... over complicated... need too much resource... when some simpler method could do as much if not more damage...
