I am trying to switching over to my A7R for street photography but the shuttle lag and the A7r is really a battery vampire.
Need some advise...Thanks.

Yeah...im a lousy shooter and "chimp" evedy shot.. I am so used to leave my dslr on all the time. Actually what bother me most is the "shutter lags"Need the Sony experts here to advice on the shutter lag issue.
For the "battery vampire" part, do you always leave the LCD on? I would normally set a time limit (3 or 5 mins?) to power off the screen. Also try not to "chimp" every shot that you took and pack extra batteries when out shooting..

The reason I wanted to use mirroless camera is because they are not too "pro". I look like just another dumb tourist and not many will pay too much of an attention but using an dslr with a 35 f1.4 everyone jusg turn and looks at you and dont look too friendly.
I guess I am just some pro shooter for mags or newspaper..

Looks that way..just buy more batteries
the battery life only last me 110-140 shot per battery.

I have A6000 too, but haven't use it since I bought it...thought of exchange it for a xt1 or xpro1..For very fast AF and low shutter lag (much faster than A7R), you can also consider the A6000 (albeit a smaller APS-C sensor). Alternatively, pony up more money for the A7RII which is much faster than the A7R in shutter lag.

Yeah...I do street photography..it works better for me to have it on most of the time. You on your cam whole day ?
For mirrorless system , most will off the camera when not shooting...
I got the a7r because of the 36mp n no AA filter. I should have done more research. The A7r is known to have a lag in short response.
A7, released at the same time had an electronic first curtain which made it more suited for things that needed faster shutter reaction.
Battery wise, not much choice but to carry a few.
However. I get 5-6 hrs batt life on the A7 with manual lenses.

You are right...dont even need fast len with nice bokeh..A7r is more of a high resolution 'detail' camera.
Imo, 36mp is seldom needed for street photography anyway.
The nature of the genre just can't use it to full advantage.
Subject movement, non ideal lighting, non optimal aperture settings, hand shake.
All stack against getting the most of the 36mp.
Not to mention that the genre is seldom printed big.
Perhaps try to sell the camera and get a A7 or A7ii?
Im thinking of it...Use leica la =p
