Dear all,

To me part of providing an excellent level of customer service is to be clear about policies, hence Fujifilm has kindly shared info on its warranty claim policies with us.

Worldwide repair program( for digital camera/lens only) :

Procedure:

When a customer sends in a camera/lens purchased from overseas( oversea retailer or online shop), Fujifilm will need to send a copy of their warranty card and purchase receipts to their respective country's Fujifilm office for validation.
Once verified, then the service centre will provide warranty cover for repairs/servicing.

For cases where it is a camera/lens model not available for sale in Singapore, the service centre will undertake the endeavour to send it to a country which is able to do the repair, do note that freight charges will have to be borne by by the customer in this case.

Since XT-1 model is available in Singapore, is it correct to say Fuji Singapore will honour the warranty that purchased in Malaysia ?

In this case, do I register the XT-1 warranty with Fuji Malaysia or Fuji Singapore ?

Thanks

Hi ,

Repairs for the X-T1 can be done in SG being a model sold locally but if the set was an overseas set one will need to register with the oversea country's website. That's why local service centre will need to verify with overseas counterparts before proceeding with repair for overseas sets.

Thanks Keith,

For avoidance of doubt, may i ask, if the warranty is registered in the overseas country and the period is still valid, and after Fuji Singapore check with the overseas Fuji country and the warranty is found to be genuine, is it correct to say that Fuji Singapore will repair it foc as if it is bought in Singapore ?

Thanks again.

Cheers

Yes, once local side confirmed with overseas side about authenticity of warranty the warranty cover will be provided.

(Provided that it's an warranty covered issue)
For example , I've seen a case of one idiot who had rust all inside his X100S (he used it at sea and well, just dumped it aside) and demanded a replacement.

Does it means that we can buy all our future cameras from Malaysia or other country as they are usually lower price?

Where anyone chooses to buy from is up to oneself :)

To be fair , SG prices though slightly higher is always offset by the included free items which are generally useful.

Remember the X-T10 launch back then where Fujifilm SG bundled batteries , handgrip , dry cabinet , SD card and on so that end of the day the price of the items do work out to be very similar.

Servicing wise , do expect a delay of its an overseas set as explained beforehand and do always spend the time to ensure u r buying from an authorized dealer if it's an overseas set.

I think I need to clarify ... for the info of others as I did receive quite a few PMs on where I purchased my XT-1

The notion that it is cheaper in Malaysia may not be always true ...

This time, for my case, it is cheaper because of the currency we feel our SGD is powerful and mainly bcos XT-1 is quite an old model ... old in the sense that the shops in Malaysia bought it & keep in their stock before the Ringgit slide and they are still selling at that old price. And we are buying now using our SGD to convert to RM using the current rate.

Once these old stocks are cleared, the new stock will be purchased by the shops at current exchange rate, so future price may not be that attractive already ...

So, the rule of thumb is, if you wanna buy your dream camera, mai tu liao, buy now ...

Then again, in Malaysia must be careful becos the the difference between the RRP and street price is very very wide ... so unless you goto a shop that you are a regular and know them well, you are not likely to get a good bargain price ...

In that context, to answer the question, I asked my local friend in Malaysia to purchase for me & I do not know which shop he purchased from as I trust he knows the local market there well. (For the record, we haven't meet yet, so the camera is still not with me)

Hope that clarifies ...

Thank you
