If I have Olympus 12-50mm, which lens should I get for single focal lens. More for general use.

Should I go for 17mm f2.8 or 45mm f1.8

go look at those photos you have taken so far, sort them by focal length, you will know which focal length you will use most often.

Are you planning to use one body + one lens combo? In that scenario, for general use, IMHO 17mm focal length is more suitable than 45mm. Easier to use (in terms of working distance needed) for scenery, street photography, full-body portraits, and for taking pictures indoor :) For this usage pattern, might also want to consider 20mm or 25mm lenses as alternatives.

Having said that, it's better to carefully consider your shooting style and the kinds of problems you usually face with your current gear :D For example, I myself started with 12-50mm, then bought a 45mm f1.8 because I don't mind carrying two lenses and the 45mm prime is much faster than 12-50mm at 45mm. In my case a 17mm f2.8 won't provide significant enough benefit over the 12-50mm lens at 17mm (I eventually bought a 17mm f1.8 instead).

Go with 25mm f1.8

What exactly drives you towards a prime lens with a focal length already covered by your existing lens?

If I'm restricted to one lens only, my choice will be the Lumix 15mm F 1.7 for the color, the angle of view, the close up ability....

Thanks for the suggestion guys! Btw, is Panasonic Lumix is better n cheaper that Oly or just a matter of preferance?

Oly pro line lenses are really expensive. The rest are still affordable. The only difference is that lumix lenses has OIS but the oly does not.

Same here. Maybe that's why they don't release f1.4 lenses
