"Phey was charged on Dec 10, 1979 with four counts of criminal breach of trust of a total of S$82,520, and other offences under the Trade Union Act. He was out on bail at S$100,000 but did not have his passport impounded. Phey failed to turn up in court on Jan 7, 1980, and a warrant of arrest was issued on the same day. His two sureties lost S$95,000 of their bail bonds as a result."

Actually what do you think they will do with this 80 year old ex-fugitive?

Nothing. They can't put in him due to age.

I suspect the most they do is make him pay some fine, house arrest (I don't even think he has a home here.)

This guy is smart. Waited until 80 then surrender. He knows how to play our law. He just wan to come bk here to die. He know garment can't do anything to him

I wonder if he's really that smart? for a sum of S$82,520?

I think 82K during his time is a huge amount...

If I'm the gov't I will exhile him coz he's has nothing they (Gov't) can benefit anymore even if he's convicted he may not be able to complete his jail term and he may not be able to pay also... so what will happen he will be mostly likely be sent to the elderly home in the Gov't expense ^_^

Yes 82k is big during his time. Temptation

Yeah, precisely that's my point. He knows garment can't do anything to him.

He is smart to come back here to enjoy the pioneer generation card.
Use SG tax payer $$$.

Most of the evidences and witness to his case may be gone already. I am not sure whether is it possible for the authority to convict him.

I think another reason why he dare to come back is because LKY is no longer around.

He came back to collect his Medishield Life insurance, SG50 senior citizen EZ Link topup, Workfare Income Supplement, etc etc...

I don't think there is a max age cap to be jail here. He did not show remorse after running for so long. His sentence will be X2-3 time plus the inflation and interest rate !!

He came back to celebrate SG50, redeem his Pioneer package and make a mockery of the Gahmen ..... being one of few who had tarnished their otherwise squeaky clean image......:)

Yes there is a Max age limit for jail

Send him back to BKK.... He probably likes Soi Cowboy or Soi Nana..... lol

....uh oh ......you always go there right ..................... :bsmilie:

He might hv contracted with some terminal illness like HIV and his days are numbered. He juz want to die in homeland.

36 yrs of good life in Thailand is worth it for him liao.

How did he live 36 years without valid documentation? That much to consider Thailand and have we also don't have a 36 years guy living here.

Maybe good that he starts to talk and spill some insider news who happen. Some holly wood willing to pay him?
