Q: macro lens stacked with reverse prime

does anyone knows the effective macro ratio stacking a 100mm macro(1:1) with a reverse prime 50mm f1.4?? is it just 2:1?

is there any difference using just a regular 100mm vs a 100mm macro lens??

should i stack with a raynox instead? if so, what's the effective ratio???

im not the best person to explain this but a proper 100mm macro is specifically made with a short/close minimum focusing difference. Everything else is more or less the same as the regular 100mm

adding a raynox to a regular lens reduces the minimum focusing distance of the said lens a little bit.

Magnification ratio for 2-lens mounting for your set 100mm/50mm = 2X
(focal length of lens on body divided by focal length of reverse mount lens will give the magnification ratio}

The formula is based on focal length of the lenses in use
So 100mm macro+reverse lens give the same mag ratio as 100mm+same reverse lens

Just reverse mount a prime or zoom lens onto the body, the magnification will be much higher and the setup is lighter. Note that the shorter the focal length in use, the higher the magnification.
