Hi, would really like some input on this matter. I'm getting a camera soon, been playing around with my friend's Mk2 for awhile nice. I love the colours on the Fuji, however I'm not so sure how it'll work out in events and weddings as compared to the 6D. Also, putting aside crop and full frame as it can be worked around.

I have both . So I can tell you that 6D is very easy to use and more functional. But xt1 have batter low night performance . What you have to think about is the lenses range of fuji and canon. I get fuji because I want a high quality compact all around lens which is no way for 6D
If you have the time, go to the Fuji store at Funan and try out the XT1 and see if the controls make sense to you. Both cameras are capable of doing events and weddings, though I favour Fuji because Canon controls don't make sense to me (particularly AF point selection). However this is a very personal thing and you need to try out the cameras for yourself.
For events and weddings 6D or even the 5Dmk2 without a doubt.
Why? AF is much better on the DSLRs in low light and the Canon flash system is better suited for events and weddings. Not to mention battery life.
I have the xt1 on top of the nikon system. And if it is a paid job, no way I will bring the fuji system out. Continuous AF on fuji in low light can be a pain...
And if i have to shoot 10 hours running and gunning, i prefer dslr because the better grip really helps.

what do u plan to use the camera for? like mentioned, the battery life on the xt1 is terrible compared to a 6D. the af is not on par as well. the lag on high fps does not allow u to see and predict the action happening before u.
on the flip side, it is much lighter and jpeg out of camera looks awesome.
if they improved on the 3 things i mentioned, i would switch to a complete fuji setup. but right now, no way. it will be suicide for my career.

I guess it depends on what you do. there are many pros shooting with X-T1 but it hasn't suicidal to their career.
I have both the 6D and X Pro... if you're a professional I think your reputation hinges on having a reliable camera like a 6D at least... or the 5D3 with its dual card slot.

I think fuji is releasing an equivalent 16-55 2.8 soon, but so far have not seen or tired it. Also the battery life, burst rate, flash & trigger availability etc etc are all considerations.
Of course if it's just for fun then it doesn't matter, but if someone is relying on you to capture their special day, you need to have the right tools.

many pros? not really. at least not in the sg context.
in fact i havent met any who uses 1. sony a7 yes though.
Sorry. I wasn't referring to Singapore context when i said that.
you see how dead our fuji forum you already can guess that not many in Singapore uses the FUji, professionally or otherwise.
Also in Singapore, image matters alot. if a pro is seen not using a big canon or nikon DSLR, maybe clients will see them no up.

It boils down to what you shoot for your work. If you are a professional just doing posed portraits, the X-T1 is capable with the shot.
If you are doing events, stick to your DSLRs.

Actually many pros you read who switched are bridal or prewedd photographers, or as mentioned;posed portraits. They have time for eg.slower AF..
TS uses may differ esp for events.
Not seen local pros shooting events with these cams, if there is pls share experiences..

yeah he is the only one i know that does it.
no point talking abt what pros use overseas. their culture is quite different from ours to begin with.
Just examine what is required for the task and whether the camera body provides it. It's that simple 
if its posed shots in a controlled setting where u miss a shot u can still retake --> X-T1
if its candid shots in a randomized setting (eg: wedding banquets) where consistency is of paramount importance --> 6D

Thanks for you replies guys. I think your discussions help narrowed it down to DSLRs, especially for the colours of my photos which can be photoshopped. Planning to use photography as a sidejob/hobby, doing events for friends and stuff. But mainly would be travel, architecture and interior shoots.

Still working it out in my head. From what I have gathered, work-wise the 6d would be the more logical choice. Especially for the AF-system over the XT1. The thing is that Canon glass is expensive, and the fuji offers a cheaper alternative.
Actually price wise Canon and Fuji glass are around the same price (if you don't take into account Canon's ultra expensive L lens lineup). For wide angle canon's 17-40 is cheaper than the 10-24. For primes, Canon's 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8 are slighter cheaper alternatives to Fuji's 35mm 1.4 and 56mm 1.2, putting IQ aside. The 24-105/24-70 are also slighting cheaper than Fuji's 16-55 2.8 lens. But do take note that the Fuji lenses I have mentioned above have fantastic IQ too.
