Lambency Flash Diffuser

a newbie to photography, sharing on the lambency flash diffuser, probably an alternative to the much priced gadget.


on the left is the white diffuser type while on the right is the clear type. Both are having the white cap and also the orange cap.

I am using Yongnuo YN565EX (on ttl) for Nikon mount for this with the flash tilted at 45deg forward. all photos are taken with the same setting on hand.

My take: it seems to me that flash on Type C Lambency produce slightly more warmer light picture than the Type P (which is fully clear). guess overall it still depends on one's liking on which is more preferred. I am not sure if this review will be useful. just wanting to share on the effect of these two types of lambency flash diffuser so in future people can decide which one to get should they decide to go with this brand as the other brand is much more pricier than this.

the effect seems almost the same as the Lambency Type P (Clear type) on white cap. maybe fellow CS member can share some of their views or maybe let me know how I can improve my review for the future.

What is the working distance from your flash to the subject?

Some suggestions/thoughts:

1. I would try to think/research of more examples of how such a product will potentially be used, and maybe experiment with various setups/scenarios (instead of just one) and then choose the ones that help demonstrate how the product works, whether it works as you expected or not, etc.

2. It will also be helpful to get the basic parts corrected so that they don't distract from the results. E.g., You mentioned 'please ignore the focus part of the photo', but it's quite hard to do that. I tried, but I just keep seeing images of a blurred dog figurine, couldn't really focus on the results. ;p

3. Would be interesting if you provided more background info on stuff like what made you decide to buy this light modifier (over other products), what did you want to shoot with this, how did you hope this would help you in your photography, etc.

When photographers bounce the light from hotshoe flash, it will get much warmmer lights compare to direct flash lights, regardless is ceiling bounce, bounce card or any diffusers.

For your test shots, you need state what size is your test subject, different sizes of subjects, flash to subject and also surrounding, will get different types of results. So if you won't get the same result as this if your subject is a real human.

thanks.. I have also seen some product review on the youtube. I guess mine is too far off. I will try to use human as an object if I can get the time to redo this and also get the above pointers into it as well. thanks
