Hi all,

Looks like it is not a fair comparison - Jaipur vs Kolkata
But if really have to chose, between this 2, which one you will pick?
Based on your own preferences, own thoughts, own experiences.

Take out the travel plan, flights availability, etc.
Purely looking at what both city can offer. Cultural, Street scene, atmosphere.

Oh ya, I like street and travel photography. On free and easy.

Considering the time of the year, Jaipur is a better choice as the climate would not be harsh. Kolkatta climate would be equally good but If you visit Jaipur from Dec till Feb it would be pleasant during the day and cold during the night and from March to June very very hot.

Jaipur will offer you more colours and variety to shoot, will offer more vibrance mainly because of the colour pink with which the whole of Jaipur is painted. The architecture will be royal forts. On the other hand Kolkatta will offer you more of British architecture. People in both cities are friendly and warm but Jaipur is more tourist friendly.

Thanks for clear explanation!
For your own experience, if any, how many days should spend in Jaipur and / or Old Delhi?
I am not a "rush for sight seeing" tourist but not a "slow and soak in the atmosphere " person as well. I tend to be balance.

It seems you are going to Jaipur via Delhi, places around Delhi are not considered safe. At times things are hyped, my personal experience with Delhi has been good Delhi is again a place where u can find lots and lots of British and moughal architecture. If planning a trip to Jaipur would suggest you to go to Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (around 3 hours drive from jaipur ) if you would love to shoot tigers ( the wild ones). In and around jaipur can be covered in 2 days maximum 3 days. delhi can be covered in 2 days and ranthambore 2 days (3 sight seeing ) .If you are lucky u could find shoot tigers. All the best and if you need any help let me know.

You were saying places around Delhi are not that safe, you mean out of Delhi, the shanty town?
I'm planning to go Jaipur via Delhi and Agra. Travel by train should be alright?

I meant the not so safe thing is hyped, hope you will be having GPS navigation or Google maps to help you, dont look lost and dont take any help that is not asked for. If travelling alone by train don't eat anything offer by unknown person, eat only packed food (biscuits , wafers etc.)If you need any help in terms of hotel booking or vehicle booking can call my friend Mr.Aman +91 9811408468 (in case he does not answer your call sms him and tell him you are my friend (Mayur).

Thanks for all info.
Last minute, I decided Varanasi instead of Jaipur or Kolkata. It was a memorable journey.
