Not the 1st time.... won't be the last time...
That's why I never shop there given the choice.
case gives me the impression they are only reactive, not proactivePaying $1k in coins legal? CASE not doing anything about the challenge? This is very bad image not just for the SLS but also reflect badly of Singapore.

legally u can but try doing that to your regular supplierI wonder if one can pay your utilities bill to PUB in 10 cents coins? Of course we need to see what next. 1 week to react?
this is really low down and down right childish. Very embarrassed myself to hear about this being practiced by a local retailer in sg.first of all, no one expected that they would pull the prank a la the fake news that Samsung paid the fine to Apple in truckloads of $1 coins. secondly, it takes time to investigate and find out what they can slap the store with. as some have analyzed on other sources, $1000 in coins is still considered legal tender. it may be a very scumbag move on the retailer's part, but if it's still legally binding, there is almost nothing CASE can do. and lastly, it's always Buyer Beware. if laws come out to ensure that people are not forced to buy "insurance" or "warranty" after buying a product, it will be a whole new headache for businesses that offer extended warranty or product insurance plans
I have noticed SLS management had put up the names of the black listed shops at the ground floor lift landing. However these cut throat shops are very smart, they only display merchandise logos or brand names of the product at their shops and not even the shop address number.
Tourist traps. Locals will usually avoid the shops at 1st/2nd storeys.
Nowadays nothing much to shop there. Funan will be a better choice.
