“Hey... don't say so much... Waiting for you to start the thread.... “

“My 1st Pentax” is specifically about our experiences with our 1st Pentax camera.

Share your 1st Pentax and pictures that bring back good memories.

The K1000 by Asahi Opt. Co. was my 1st Pentax way back in 1977.

It is still in working condition. Will post pictures after running them through the scanner….

my first was KR kit with DA 35 2010, first lens bought was a tamron 90 new and took off in macro world and never looked back since nothing interest me yet. Still fascinating in macro world till I see something special then look into it

Wow.. memories thread!!!
Short history for me..

After long research and comparing between different brands, the last choice was to decide the K7 or KX, in which K7 was choosen and become my first Camera in Jan 2010. Not too sure do I still have a photo of my K7, really need to go run through my back up harddisk.

Some shots with the K7..

Wah! Ben, I think you are the champion here.
1977!

The brand must have been with you thru lots of nice memories.

Mine was 1998.
Looked around for a good camera after I started work and had the little money to go on tour every year.
At that time, Canon, Nikon were already the leaders, but did not catch my eye for the price/features.
Minolta looked good, at that time IIRC, it was said that Minolta made the bodies with the most features for the money.
But Pentax caught my eye immediately.
As is now, very good feature/price and size of camera.

Did not know better and in those days, a few hundred was a lot on my pay.
So got a basic MZ-50.
In those days, had to get the SLR for the non-dummy metering options as well as the exposure compensation (compared to most compact film cams).
Av, Tv, M modes as well of course, but those were early days and film was harder and expensive, so mostly live on exposure compensation from what the camera metered.

My MZ-50 was sold off to my sis after 1.5yrs and I moved to the MZ-5n (a 'god fantastic!' camera to me at that time).
Too bad my sis did not keep it well, and it lived in a cupboard for a long time, I got it back later as a house decoration since it had broken down when I found it at my mother's place.
Its even more beat up now as my kids have been playing with it (serving another role now)

hey JK, my first Pentax camera was the MZ-50 too and with the 35-80mm kit lens. I was looking for a easy to use SLR for my holiday trip and if I remembered correctly I was at one of the lucky plaza camera shop looking at Canon, Nikon and after which the salesman took out and recommended me the Pentax MZ-50.I have since sold off the camera and the only film camera I'm still keeping is the super program...

When I was in my early teens, I was fascinated with cameras & photography.
In fact my 1st camera was not a Pentax, but a low cost self winding 120 format B&W cam. It came with a dial for film advance instead of a lever.
So much so, my 1st roll was ruined due to overlapping exposure. This was because I turned the film dial 360 deg for next exposure.:bsmilie:

The cam came with flash that uses disposal flash bulbs....have to protect fingers from burn when removing the discharged bulbs too soon...

Next was the Kodak 110 pocket sized camera with a set of 10 self-powered flash bulbs....

While my K1000 laid in hibernation for couple of years, my 2nd was Pentax PC606W weather sealed camera. Brought with me to places like Bali for shots taken during parasailing...

I started photography in April 2010, and my first camera was Pentax K-x + DAL18-55mm.

Hi hi, not master lah.. no tripod was used, Pentax SR works!!! Anyway, have to wait for the moments when they don't move much or the best lighting is out. I think i took quite a number of shots and delete most of it.

I remember I was still practising manual focussing and trying to keep the ISO at 800. Any higher, the K7 does not shine. :X

HUH!!! I thought you started photography long before me!!!!! When did you start with your film cameras?

Think i started around the same time as you..that time i got the red k-x.I din do much research about the different brands..only got it because it was red and relatively cheaper than the other DSLRs out there...
