What a disappointment.

could be the top prize in photomarathon

7D Mark III will be announced September 2019 before Photokina 2019. Bodies will ship November 2019.

5D Mark IV will be announced March 2015 or later. Bodies will ship weeks later.

Disappointments with the 7D Mark II:
- No WiFi (May be a reason why there's a SD slot for EyeFi)
- No 4K resolution video
- No CFast memory card slot for faster than UDMA7 reads/writes of 167MB/s.

More and more I feel Canon is like Apple. Leading in brand power but losing in cutting edge technology. Shall wait for the new 5D hehe

I for one find that the upgrade is pretty good. The only unknown now is the performance of the sensor, other than that, the improved AF in viewfinder, quick focusing in liveview, etc is what I have always wanted.

The price is also pretty reasonable.

Will wait for the reviews and street price. Maybe will get this camera one or two years down the road when the price has dropped enough ;)

I agree. This camera is clearly designed for the wildlife and sporting photographer and I believe that it will do an outstanding job in this genre. Sensor technology is not as critical in this area of photography even if minor improvements to the sensor have been made. Of more critical attributes are the superior AF technologies and the low light capabilities which Canon took great pains to improve. I don't think any APS-C camera can match it in these areas.

I believe this camera will be a huge winner for Canon.

It was already found on Canon years ago.

Only on the 1 series before.

I am not sure why many are disappointed. I for one thought Canon hit all the right spots for this upgrade. Very impressive.

It will be a dream sports, wildlife and birding camera.

Seems like a highly focused product for the sports and wildlife (same target audience as the 7D was). Any other camera comes with flicker compensation? In these tightening market conditions, Canon marketing appears to take a very different approach from the others. They don't release FF bodies like nobody business; they don't release products full of feature list items. They contain costs very tightly in what they release and rather lose some customers than money. I'm not sure if that's the right approach but so far they are still profitable (though less than before), I believe?

Well... many people wanted 7DmkII to have everything in the 1DX, had a 100MP sensor, can go up to ISO2500000 and had dynamic range to be 10 stops better than even the D800 also handle noise 10 stops better than 5DmkIII. Also they expect Canon to throw in wifi, NFC, bluetooth, GPS, voice activated thingies and while at that, Canon should enable the 7DmkII to be able to act as a remote control for them to link all the household appliances via wifi so that when the wildlife photographer can control his household thingies and has a hot bath ready for him when he reach home after a long day of shoot in the wild.

All that for the price of US$699,

:bsmilie:

Even after that, some haters will still say, that is boring...

Anyway, I personally find the upgrades very very nice. And tempting. One or two years down the road when price go down below 2K... that is when I am going to get one.

Any bros have any info on its actual arrival?
Just called canon SG n disappointed, their system is not showing any info
on arrival...

This is a great upgrade if u are into sports photography. The 10fps is probably their answer to Sony a77mk2 but with a high canon premium price. It's time to sell the old 1D mk4 and get this 7d mk2!

Probably only available for 1d series...
Yes 1D has not sure about 5D3 though.
But this is not something that iam concern about having it or not as exposure can be adjusted manually. Iam more concerns how the AF fares in fast action and low light and the ISO performance. These can't be controlled manually.

Maybe they expect best of the best.
Indeed specs are impressive.

To specialize in APSC market, they have to narrow down the real purpose or rather advantage of APSC and maximize it from there.
Canon 7 series had down pretty good in it thus far. It is a camera for serious hobbyists to professional photographers.

I will be comparing the noise performance between these two before making final decision. Iam a it disappointed that the 7D2 lacks the optional ISO 50. This is not a must but good to have option as sometimes I shoot that low ISO.

Was actually thinking of ISO 50, but well, lol
Planned to wait for noise review but had been waiting too long for mk ii,
Guess will jux grab a set when it's here

I think this is a good upgrade with very specific purpose in mind. Will wait for price to stabilize before getting it as replacement of my 7d
