The Spore air force went to the US to take part in their Red Flag combat exercise.
For the first three days, our F-16 pilots, no matter how much they planned and prepared, they were always ambushed by the USAF F-15s. Then they realized that the USAF pilots were eavesdropping on their conversations (not disallowed by the rules), so they switched from plain English to Singlish/Chinese/Malay.
Suddenly the F-15s lost their magic, and for the last three days, found no way through the defensive screen set up by our F-16s.
So who says Singlish got no use har?

There's plenty of eavesdropping/espionage conducted by governments even during 'peacetime', more so during an actual war.
There are no 'rules' that make interception/decryption of communications a war crime, so no, it's not 'cheating'.

Everyone cheats in a war. At the end of the day, what matters is that you are dead, and I'm alive.

They have language specialist in the SOC to be deploy to the area of conflict, no problem for them.But when you start mixing like singlish or dialect they will have great difficulty to decipher the message in real time.

Nice lessons learned:
- Do not trust your friends fully (but that's nothing new since Snowden or the leaks of diplomatic notes)
