Epson Printers which are the Pro level printers?

Dear All,

I bought a Canon MG6320 Inject Printer. It is good printer serve my purpose, but the ink use up too fast. Changing one set of color cartridges always get big complain from my wife.

I am thinking Epson has those bigger bottle color ink tank. I hope it is cheaper and I also need a A3 paper size printer.

Any one has the experience to advise which Epson model can print up to A3 size paper and still allow for big Ink Tank cartridges. There do not seem to have Pro or better quality Epson printers can take on ink tank. I am hoping that it can take on 4 or more color ink tanks.

There's the Epson R3000, was going for S$1268 at last month's IT fair. FYI, it takes nine 26ml cartridges, compared to the 11ml (CLI-251 XL) cartridges of the MG6320.

Note that replacement cost can feel fairly high if you're not used to replacing more + larger cartridges. E.g., A whole set of Epson 157 cartridges may cost between S$400-$500?

R3XXX series should be what you are asking. R3880 also.

Thank you larrytok. In fact Iam reading the brouchers, I found R3000 but it does not seem supporting the ink tank. There is no external box there to hold the ink tanks or it is large enough to hold it inside the the cover?

Hi Kandinsky, the 9-colour pigment ink are those the same size show in other Epson model or it is the smaller one just like Cancon MG6320 type?

Based on your info it is between 11ml vs. 26ml. On the broucher I see the bottle can hold more than 26ml. I refer to those L series ink tank. It appears to me are much larger than 26ml bottle.

If you're talking about Epson's L-series printers with built-in continuous ink supply system (CISS), they only have A4 models. Got confused because your opening post seemed to use 'tank' and 'cartridge' exchangeably.

Until Epson or Canon makes an A3 printer with built-in CISS, your only option is to install a CISS system yourself with an 3rd-party kit, if CISS is important to you.

Sorry I am not so clear myself how to refer to the ink tank. So it is the CISS system. Else I know it is expensive to replace those cartridges.

Office firewall prevent me to read the youtube. will study it when I reach home. Hope that it will save some money for me.

By the way, anyone has done it before using the third party solution to save $$$$?

157 cartridges cost around $63 each.

IMHO the ink tank system available in Singapore are all crap. You will get more trouble than the money you think you saved.

The ink quality is not even close. And you will experience print head blockage a lot.

157 Original Epison catridges cost $63 per color. There are nine colors total.

If you're looking for CISS for other printers, just search via google. InkRepublic looks like one of a few companies making after-market CISS kits. Whether they develop their kits independently, or actually get the same OEM kits just rebranded, I have no idea. Your guess is as good as mine as to the quality

Would like to clarify that when I posted about InkRepublic's CISS kit for the R3000, I was merely sharing info I found online, and was in no way a recommendation or endorsement. I have no experience with CISS at all, or with InkRepublic, and can't comment about quality or availability locally (most of the kits I've seen good reviews of seem to be from overseas companies). I've researched this when I thought about trying a CISS kit with my spare printer, a canon ix4000, but did not proceed as I did not have the time to spare to mess about with it.

My impression is that such CISS kits are for those who are willing to tinker with their printers, and are prepared to spend time troubleshooting any possible issues that might crop up. If you're the kind who'd rather spend more time shooting (and printing), and is actually expecting something that works out of the box, you'd do well to steer clear. Instead, purchase a printer for your needs and use it as recommended by the manufacturer.

Look like no such thing cheap and good.

I need to rethink again to get a A3 printer or stay with my A4 printer now.

I take a lot of photos for family chdilren, school alumni and for office. So many ask for print out, That result to me look for cheaper solution but not willing to settle for less quality print out, even though the photos are great enough to compete for prizes.

Hi All,

I checked on Jon Cone's blog is interesting.

The set up cost is high, but in long run one can save the money. I am still keen, but must first buy the printer then go for the CISS or similar set up.

Quality ink, quality cartrige, quantity purchase I think I will be ok. Prepare to test it out. April coming, let see how is the bouns package. ;p
