M thinking of getting a imac to do processing will the core i5, 16gb memory, 1 tb serial ata drive and GeForce gtx 775m 2gb gddrs and drobo 5n as storage be good enough? Btw m never a Apple user b4. Thanks.

Sounds more than enough. If you can afford it though, upgrade the internal storage to an SSD. i7 upgrade would be icing on the cake. :)

May I suggest change 1tb sata to 512gb flash storage. This will allow the loading of softwares eg lightroom, photoshop almost immediate and the processing speed will be fast at all time.
As for your storage of photos, if imac is standalone, use 5D with connection of thunderbolt. You can future cache the transfer speed between the harddisk and thunderbolt cables using msata that can be added to 5D.

Hope is will help.

thanks guys have to grasp slowly cos I m not good in all this computer stuff.

Why are you choosing an Apple? Is there a specific reason? If you are unfamiliar with Apple then a new system will only add to the learning curve. Lightroom is the same on both systems.

I always have the impression that the color are richer and suit processing of photograph better.

IMHO, if you already have a desktop / notebook that you feel is powerful enough, probably better to just buy a monitor that's designed to be colour accurate, and calibrate it :)

Thank you all. Will get the Imac with cord i5 (not wanting to order online) from one of the shop. Will be grateful if someone can recommend me where is the best place to make the purchase other then online. Thanks

Given the so-so service level of AASP, maybe better if you order online.

Do you want to edit the real colours or being deceived by the rendering of the screen?
What you describe is exactly what Apple wants to do: impress with cheap tricks. As a photographer you should worry about the real colours before you try to impress with overly saturated and otherwise twisted colours.
Do get a screen calibrator to make sure that the display shows what the data in the image describe. Otherwise all your work is for the bin.

thank you Octarine that's the reason why I wrote in the forum hoping to get some advice before I make the purchase. If you don't mind pls give me a suggestion as to which system I should consider. Thanks

Just answer a few questions for yourself:
1) Do you really need a mobile solution to be carried around? (Alternatively, use a tablet for the mobile 'showing off' :bsmilie:)
2) What exactly do you want to use the system for? Which programs do you want to use?
3) What is your data / storage strategy? Everything on internal disk? External disk as backup? Access via USB or network?
4) How sensitive / critical / important are your data? (Think about replication to cloud services.)
Find the answers to these questions and you will more or less see what works best. There is no 'one solution fits all purposes', define what is your position.
For the display, the Dell Ultrasharp series is well commented on here in the forum. It has an IPS panel (better colour rendering, also from wider angle) and lasts quite a long time. You can get them either in some local shops (Funan) or online (Dell SG, I got my 23 inch there). On top, get the screen calibrator devices (e.g. Datacolor's Spyder 4 or others). It will help you to calibrate the screen so that the rendering is neutral.
In terms of OS there is little to say, it boils down to personal preferences. Thanks to virtualization and dual boot one can have Windows on Apple or Windows / Linux mixed on the same machine. Important is what you are comfortable with.
Keep your system protected and updated.
