Buying D800 in Japan

Hi thinking of buying D800 body with battery grip besides the warranty is local to Japan can the manual of the camera be switched to english and also the voltage is 110v in japan but SG is having 220v will there any issues using it here.

You can request from Nikon SG, but whether they do or not, is at their discretion.

However, there are digital copies out there which you can download.

Set yours to Swedish and see if you can navigate back to English. Fun!


Unfortunately Nikon figured this out, and if you do, the Language option, which before was only listed as Språk in Swedish, also is listed as (Language) in every language mode, even Korean.


Still, this is also a potentially good source for a practical joke.

I buy almost all my new gear in Tokyo at either Yodobashi or Bic Camera.

Picked up a D7100 a few months ago, and the firmware can only be set to English or Japanese. If you want to verify, play with the display model and make sure you can change it to English. Charger is fine and works in Singapore. The only issue you might have is that the manual comes in Japanese. Just download the English version from Nikon's site.

Depending on which salesperson you get, they may or may not tell you about their rewards program. If you sign up, you get 10% of the purchase price put on the card to be used as a store credit for your next purchase. If you have no intention of buying anything else, take your passport and plane tickets. They will usually knock 10% off the price if you tell them you are visiting and don't want to purchase any other items.

TS: are u asking about the camera menu rather than the manual. Answer is yes, there is an option to change to English. But based on my previous experience, other languages in SE Asia eg Mandarin, Indonesian etc not supported in the Japan set.

You must be speaking good Japanese when u bought the camera because the staff gave me a English manual when I bought my D7000 there. In fact, the manuals are in their backstore and the staff asked me whether I want a Chinese or English manual.

I purchased using Japanese. Will have to ask for the English manual next time. I didn't think to ask for one.

Yup, only Japanese and English.

Yodabashi is a great store but it's on the more expensive side, never bought there any higher prized stuff.

Actually some of the best prices I ever seen are from Yodabashi. With all the discounts factored it, some prices cannot be beat. For example, Nikon 16-35VR brand new with international warranty was bought from Yodobashi for SGD 1350+. Unbeatable. That is only one of the many examples I have seen.
