Though generally dslrs aren't allowed at concerts, there are still plenty who manage to bring it in(i don't know how) so i am tempted to try. my concern is, should they find the camera in your bag, do they refuse you entry until you manage to get rid of the camera someway or is there some sort of deposit area?

Been forever since i last attended a concert so im hoping to get some updated info :embrass:

Been rejected few yrs back at the indoor stadium, that time has locker (need to pay). Not sure now still available or not. Some places may not have it.

Just bring compact cam & enjoy the concert.

Brought it in before , kena caught before many times and now my advice is just bring a high performance compact like the RX10 or RX100ii and spend more attention on enjoying the concert. :)

They may enforce that u keep your camera with them outside and claim it back at the end. Do u want to let their fingers touch your dear camera ?

End of the day ,it's more impt to enjoy the concert than playing hide and seeks with the bouncers.

Yes, if they have a policy of checking for prohibited items, they will tend to provide a bag deposit area.

Example – MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands:

Photography / Video Recording Rules
Photography, Video Recording and Audio Recording is strictly prohibited during the performance.
All DSLR / Cameras with interchangeable lens is strictly prohibited inside the auditorium and must be checked in into the Theatres Cloak Room.

It's unlikely that venues will refuse entry (for paid ticket events) without offering concert-goers a solution. Smaller venues without deposit area, will probably still let you in, but warn that you may be escorted out if caught using inside, after repeated warnings, etc. Check the details of the concert/venue you are planning to attend, sometimes will be listed on your ticket.

the event im looking at is at the singapore indoor stadium. so far the organier's rule is a one liner prohibting photography, videography and audio recording. will keep a lookout for more details! thanks bro :bsmilie:

It's not allowed in SIS but I always do it. hide it in your bag carefully and when u get it in take like a ninja lol. Other concerts like F1 and those at garden by the bay usually allow.

i like the idea bro...but i don't think you bring in the 70-200 right? how to hide such a behemoth hahaha

Some creative suggestions from someone who sounds like a seasoned concert-goer :bsmilie:

4. [For Indoor Stadium in Singapore only] Those who wants a good way to sneak dslrs in, look here! For Indoor Stadium, they can't take your dslr as it is very expensive and if it got lost, they won't be able to pay for it. So, they will only take your batteries and return it to you after the concert. You see what I mean? We can also bring spare batteries and hide it in our bags while pretending to give up the one's hidden in the dslr.

* And for those who have awesome-ly sneaked in a dslr or camera, please off your flash. It attracts attention and those annoying people will come and shine that freaking torchlight in your face.

* If you ever got found out, for dslr, just act stupid and keep it or pass your batteries to them. Don't create a scene as they can confiscate the dslr or your memory card LEGALLY.

Hide the batteries in our shoes ! And use memory cards that are wifi enabled !

In that case, bring your router to the concert too ;)
Otherwise use only cameras with 3G/4G connectivity like Samsung's Galaxy Camera or Galaxy NX or S4 Zoom.

Many years ago i'd taken SLRs with lenses into stadiums BUT I did ask the stewards if it were okay. As the seating was very far away they could ascertain my kit wasn't going to be of any commercial benefit...this is why they make rules up. Never try and be smart smuggling recording media into any live performance.
