breakdowns have become an almost everyday affair, not to mention the double whammy of fare hike!
But to many, they simply have no other choices but to depend on public transport...

I really missed the pleasant experience of taking a train 10yrs ago.

and this too....

you better recover fast else you will be kicked out....

and even i drive now, i hv to leave home one hour earlier for office in the morning and still caught in nasty jams.

NO WAY OUT! drive cannot, public transport also cannot, sick also no place.

Commuters are paying for a service. Frequent breakdowns = poor service quality. Fees went up, quality of service declining. Why should they be viewed as separate issues? It is only reasonable to demand for more reliable service, especially with fee increment. PTC can say what they want for all I care. Bottom line, they are just another bloody propaganda tool.

looking at it, people should be able to receive text messages from such service providers to be notified in the event of a breakdown.

unless of course, they opted in the DNC registry

While I don't know the real reason for the MRT failure, with anything electrical/mechanical will subject to failure. More so as the equipment aged. They should review and have a more permanent solution.

While it has been privatized, we are very dependent on the system and would be interested to know the real reasons. Do share and the public will appreciate better. No point keep avoiding and making everyone frustrated.

Very true. We should all go as one to voice our frustrations. So what if we're not shareholders? We're commuters who rely on their services and they should at least tell us more clearly regarding the problems

I am not sure if affected passengers during the various train breakdowns, were reimbursed for their fare when they exit the station. basically, the aim is to compensate affected passengers for time loss, or when they have to exit the station and find alternative routes to their destination. Assuming if there is no such reimbursement to affected passengers, it may be worthwhile to examine this possibility to compensate affected passengers, other than imposing a fine on the train operators.

The fine is useless in my opinion. One of my colleagues got caught in the breakdown and was late reporting for work. As a result he got his pay deducted. I'm sure that there are many like him.

Reimbursed? Some should check if they are over-deducted. I vaguely remembered that there is a time-limit that you can be in the station (based on the distance you travelled). If you are too long inside a station, you can be charged differently. Perhaps this has changed / no longer that.

it is not that we, old folks, like to rant/rave. We have seen the good times and now what appears in front of our eyes everyday, in our beloved country [:sweat::sweat: tears, not sweat!], are continuously reports of heart-hurting happenings as listed above.

How can we be happy and proud of our beloved country? say you? dear?
