Lens for nikon

Hi.. Recently I just bought a Nikon d600 and just changing system, so I do not have any Nikon lens.

May I know any lens recommend for this camera? Mainly is for travel and wedding photo use.

If you have been shooting enough, you would have realized that there's no so-called recommended lens. Each indv have different preference of focal length/lens. It will be useful if you know what focal length range you have been shooting at.

Just another thing, I see that many times the 'for wedding photo use', I kinda feel that it's being misused. If you are a professional wedding photog, you would have your go to lens and thus a 'needless to ask qst'. For uncle bobs, even iPhone (now iPad is getting more common) can do the job.

For wedding photos both bridal and AD, highly recommended equipment are Nikon 24-70/2.8, 14-24/2.8, 70-200/2.8VR2, 24/1.4G and a 85/1.4G. And you need 2 cameras actually. Use your D600 as a 2nd body, and get another D3s or D4.

But really, TS I suggest you shoot more and get better in your photography. Only then you will know what lenses are good for your own style of shooting.

I will go for 24-70mm or 24-120mm. And also the 12-24mm.

Yep. The 24-70 is one of the common use lenses for wedding. Perhaps another external flash to pair with it?

You might consider the new Tamron 24-70 f2.8.. Its being reviewed quite a times and has really good reviews and comes at a much cheaper price to the Nikon variant

Buy a 28~300mm lens for travel first.

Look at all the pictures you have shot and like.

Look for the most used focal length as well.

Isolate the range, and then buy your next lens.

I buy/ rent lens according to the Job's need.

If you are really into photography, as you improve your skill, you will want a better lens. Most likely you will end up 24-70 as one of the lenses you need. I started with good lens like 24-70 and 105 for macro. No regret. Only now I am going to retire and lack of fund then I go for third party 70-200, but am still finghting so hard not to go third party if I can really help it.

If you get 24-85 or 24-120, you should get a flash to go along with them.

Have you look into Tamron 24-70 VC?
First lens with stabilization for such. Pretty good review.

It's loud when focusing and will hunt a lot in dim light. I will not recommend for fast pace event like wedding (if he's one of the official photographer), or quiet seminars.

Really? I thought the vc version is quite poor. There are better fast lenses with stabiliser. First doesn't mean good when other brands launch similar products.

Any thoughts of primes? it is affordable , light weight, good for low light
