LoL. Was talking about GB or JB. Now is LI or Bangkok. LoLLL.
What can I say. Some say it is not so frequent. Some say it is a hobbyhorse. I better don't say. LoL. Lest this thread get closed.

hey welcome.

I hope more people with video and photographs of last night incident could submit them to the police. These people need to be identified and taken to task. We cannot allow this to happen here. There is no reason for them to act the way they have acted.

From the video, it is clearly an escalation when they see our uniform staff are not reacting that they became aggressive. Similarly, if we let this episode go by, others will follow. As a Singaporean, I don't want to see this happening here. Every single one of those who have participated must be taken to task and hit very, very hard.

Time to install some curfews around d area.

For years, residents there have complained of the foreign workers flouting traffic rules and getting pissed drunk over the weekend. Now may be their complaints will be heeded. I know coz a relative stays in that area.

To the guy that was knocked down : RIP.

Just glad that there were no other casualties involved.

pretty sure there will be a much heavier police presence in Little India from now on which isn't a bad thing either. Let's not contribute to all these negative finger pointing that some r doing online now.

Surprised that only 27 out of the reported 400 plus were apprehended though.

Too sleepy to follow the news and the press conference yesterday , what happenend to the bus driver anyway...?

I was just around that area on Sat! =_=

Today the police will round up all the dormitories and line them up.

Bertha Henson sums it's up: "Control maintained in an hour. No shots fired."

As bad as the situation may have been, I say "WELL DONE!" to our police and SCDF.

My personal thought...

Why was the emotion so 'RAW' ?? Why have the FW decided to take the law into their own hands and attack the driver of the bus ?? Is Alcohol solely to blame ??

Imagine you are a construction worker in a country where most the local treat you at best, a necessary evil. At worst, I dare said - Scum of the earth. Then think about how angry you'll feel, when the local don't want you to sit next to them or even want to look into your eyes... how about the local way of holding their nose when you are near... lets not mention the local Police spot-check and local people's accusing judgment with or without prove...

Whatever the reason or pent up frustration those rioters had felt... The FULL EXTEND of THE LAW must now be use... much like on those 'Striking' China SMRT Bus Captain. No One is above the LAW in SG... not Local or Foreigner...

When the dust has settled... and emotion from both FW & Locals have calmed down... then its a good time to discuss what started this issue...

Well done the Police and Civil Defence. People who risked their lifes and got injured. Hope they are fine.

Well done the keyboard warriors as usual, the real cowards in every situation are the keyboard warriors. Proud of clubsnap members not falling into that trap.

Everything about foreign workers feels so revolting to me now, but not good to comment. I decided not to consume the combination of prata and beer together, for a year to remember this event in Singapore history.

Don't complaint about gagament. You voted for them. You want change, then vote carefully next time.

Shouldn't this be done before or in the course of investigations? And what if, in the course of investigations, it becomes obvious that the course of the law is not the best way to answer? Social dynamics and especially in such situations cannot always be answered with laws and sentences, it misses the point. The driving forces behind are not illegal, but of social nature.

Nothing is 100% fool-proof... and that includes the LAW. Since IMHO, what causes this Riot in the first place has many many factor, there is no way a easy answer could ever be achieved. And it would take alot more of time and effect to change SG's Social Nature... For the time being, I see it as important to let emotion calm... before discussing could begin.

We can expect more of such incidents with the population boom and over-crowding. First the PRC's now Little India .........

Yes, well said. We should not point fingers at others. Just examine ourselves first and ask ourselves why we have slept through so many GEs.

time to WAKE up perhaps? Or face more catastrophe, oppression, riots????

What is the root cause?

Gov needs to be proactive IMO. They always react when something serious happen. As some bro mentioned, they shd preempt that pockets like those in penisular and LI etc are disasters waiting to happen. The fuel is there. Just need a spark.
Hv to be less myopic too. Dont just bring in FT and then ignore the consequences.

I tend to agree with you on this. Esp on the pent up frustration. Nobody, including the FW, would wish to do this just for some thrill. They are here to seek a living for their loved ones. We, including the gov, shd be more proactive and don't just react by pointing fingers. The easy way out of a deep rooted problem.

For those who don't condone the unrest stirred on the streets, i wonder why they're stirring unrest online :)
