zeiss wipe

check with the exp guys here, I have nvr use zeiss wipe to clean my lens before.. saw these selling in gmarket and one forummer here told me before zeiss wipe are great for lens cleaning..

problem is.. although it wrote imported from USA but its made in china? normal? possible fake ones?

imported from USA but MIC always possible. They just shipped the product to USA (warehousing) after it was produced in China (production and fabrication).

Both are correct.

Are zeiss wipes only for Carl Zeiss?

Zeisser sifu any recommendation?

think its for any time of lens as its just your typically good electronic wet wipes...

but I just wonder the source is reliable or not.. dun wan use it on my L lens lol

Go to Watsons, buy a bottle of IPO (200ml less than $5) and some soft tissues, done. If you don't dare to use anything MIC it on your Preciousssss .. well.. just leave it in the dry cabinet, no need to clean then.

I've been using them and so far has been good. Definitely convenient as it is a one time use and you can dispose it after you're done.

Haha I was wondering the same thing (about Zeiss wipes) and started a thread in the General Discussion forum on lens cleaning. I was also attracted by the convenience of having a pack of these individually sealed wipes - easy for travel or even day to day. They definitely work for all lenses, not just Zeiss, and work for lots of other regular glass-cleaning stuff too

Problem is, I read a lot of mixed reviews on it. Some say they leave streaks and residue on the lens, some say they're too wet, some say they dry too fast, and some say they're really good

So in the end I decided to go the more traditional route - lens cleaning fluid and soft tissue

Why not microfibre cloths which is readily available from opticians - zeiss, nikon, essilor and other optical brands? They are re-usable too. Worked for me for years.

Yes agree, MF cloths can be washed clean with laundry detergent and reused many times.

sometime I notice using just mf dun really clean the lens well enough.. so using cleaning fluid is good but I cant of scare spraying some liquid on my lens haha.. so think these wet wipes quite suitable..

of cos some might some u spray liquid on ur mf before u clean not on the lens itself..

microfiber clothes work as well as tissue/wipes, i guess, but needs maintenance, and unless you wash it after each use, you're not quite sure if its clean enough or not. so its a bit of a hassle. thats why i like the fluid/tissue option

They're definitely on the wet side hence leaving streaks. Once you open up the full wipes which speeds up the alcohol evaporating, it wipes off the streaks perfectly.

You'll be surprised that I only use ordinary Kodak lens tissue for cleaning
my lens. Anyway the front element of the lens is protected by filters so usually
only clean the filter and once in a while take out the filter and blower dust clean
the front element but never touch it with the lens tissue. So with these new lens swipe
have yet to try Huh huh by the way am not a sifu la still learning :bsmilie:

I have had them for years can't seem to finish using them and don't find them particularly good. Too wet and the paper too stiff. I prefer using Eclipse. But they are convenient if outdoors and if you suddenly need a wet wipe.

Luckily your timely post reversed the decision to buy some from bhphoto.

Bought Lee filter solution instead. Non alcoholic, works well with MF cloth. And more importantly, cheap.

i use lenspen, which i find is convenient, hell, when i need to clean my lens halfway during a shoot outside, i just use my t-shirt! haha

I tried the wipes before. It does clean up the lens pretty darn good, but depending on your strength of application, it might/might not leave a residue. I got both results on random occasions. Now I just use a microfibre cloth/lens tissue and blower.

Lens pen is great for most occasions..but sometimes just need a little solvent/moisture! The individual packaging helps prevent unknown crap on micro fibre from damaging your filter/lenses.

I never had lints. Even if, completely irrelevant. You would need a hairball of lints to have any impact on images.
The dust that can potentially scratch your lens would come from somewhere else, not the tissue pack. If you have been to some sandy or dusty area you should use a blower to get rid of dust - this stuff can really scratch your lens. Use a brush if you are worried. Then clean with tissue and IPO.
In addition, the front element coating is made in way to stand the usual cleaning activities. No need to get paranoid about a bit of dust and some occasional cleaning.
