Dear All,

I am planning on getting a shutter release for my D7100. From what I understood, there is 3 type available. From what I know, there is the wired one, infrared one and wireless one. I don't mind third party one as long as they work well.

Can anyone share what is the cost and why one is better than the other?

It really depends on what you want to achieve with the shutter release. If all you want to do is shoot some long exposures, a wired one will do.

If you want to take self portraits etc... IR one kinda suck. RF wireless one is better.

Good point there.

I've had okay experience in the past with a cheap copy of the nikon ML-L3 for group self-shots (3-5m range) while travelling.

I am leaning towards the wireless one but don't know how reliable is it.

I will need to get the WU-1A and the wireless remote right?

Which is a reliable brand for the wireless shutter release? Or should I get the original Nikon one?

I got one from Amazon under 1USD. Brandless ML-L3. Doesn't really work well at long distances but oh well its 1USD
