If the drivers know what to do .. but looking at the clueless and helpless signalling in all direction one can observe near Parkway Parade ..:bsmilie:

Roundabouts are very common place in major cities of Iceland and Scandinavia. Very intuitive to use, good flow, little hassle of waiting. It is also more common in the less urban areas of UK
But like what catchlights mentioned, the land area to create a ring is much bigger than a crossroad with lights.

Round about is also safer than traffic light junction because the drivers will not try to beat the red light

Roundabouts are a total fiasco in big cities like Singapore. Other than the infamous Newton Circle and the quite benign one at Amber, there are the ridiculous circles at West Coast Highway, Jalan Boon Lay/Jurong Island and Tuas Road. I am amazed that LTA persists in building more circles. Often these circles have traffic lights otherwise the mess would result in total standstill. You can be stuck in the West Coast circle for more than 30 mins during peak. Kindly avoid.
