Dear CSers, recently my computer bootup to windows only to suddenly shut down to restart itself only to be stuck at the bios splash screen. No matter how I press the power button it won't bootup again. After a while, I tried again and it bootup to windows only to be restart itself to be stuck at bio splash screen.

I was thinking, could be my power supply faulty?

Or memory problem.. try to swap out one by one.. or get a new stick to try.

I don't know what's wrong with yours. My PC is crashing everyday too even after I re-instal the windows 7.

Can it be malware?

If there's ram problem, will it still boot into window vista? Mine boot successfully into vista for couples of minutes before restarting itself. I am not disagreeing but I wanna make sure before spending money for it.

Alternatively, if there any trustworthy reasonably priced repair shop to go to?

No need to spend money, just swap out your ram one by one. Usually when you swap out the faulty stick, your PC will boot normally.
Alternatively take out all the ram sticks, and try one stick at a time.

Thanks for all the advise! Will try it soon.....

disable your splash screen in bios, let it show you the ram check and hdd check during boot. so you can tell where it hung at.

if u have 2pcs of ram
remove one and restart

if fail put into another slot and restart
repeat for the other ram

the beep sound produce by your mobo can tell u what is the problem
1 long 2 short, 1 long 3 short
refer to mobo manual

i think should be ram else vga or psu

Are you able to start in safe-mode?
Total start in safe mode, press F8 key, when ur computer start.
Is the problem happen after you installed new application?

Another tips might help, if u see your motherboard rather dusty, you can use vacuum cleaner to vacuum, sometimes dust static may cause this problem too.
Good luck.

Based on symptoms, check PSU & memory per other posts. One extra area to check is cpu fan, and clear dust from cpu heatsink. I had similar symptom when cpu went into thermal protection due to failed cpu fan.
