Hi,
My preference of shooting is landscape, which require wide angle lens. But do not feel like buying a DX Wide angle lens for the purpose as the DOF of it looks not so natural. So have the intention to upgrade to FX. Which later may get a 17-35 for that.
24-85 will be my all round lens if upgraded to FX.
Just wonder will it be not wise choice as my current lens aperture wise is better.
upgrade your camera will make not much difference to your photography, except you will have a newer camera.
let me put it in a sample way to illustrate this;
if you give a same model of camera to 100 photographers to ask them go out and shoot something, they will come back with 100 different style of photos.

Shooting landscape does not mean that it requires wide angle lens. Just that sometimes (or many times) people prefer (ultra) wide angle over telephoto focal length for landscape. But so long it does the job and get your shot, who cares about the focal length...
DOF of DX wide angle lens not natural? I'm not sure what you mean... I've still seen excellent work done on crop cameras with DX lenses, be it portraits or landscapes.
Why do you even have the intention to upgrade now? Do you know your existing setup CANNOT do or can't do what you want? If you do not know the limits of it and want to upgrade to FF, probably you may get a extra ego boost only..and waste alot of money in the process of selling off DX lenses at a loss and buying FX lenses which usually are way more expensive..
Also, It's almost impossible to advice which setup to go for, since at the end of the day, it's your budget, requirement and how you use it, which differs from person to person.

Not sure what you mean by "DoF not natural"...
Especially when shooting landscapes, you want deeper DoF (everything sharp). And crop cameras give you slightly more depth. On FF cameras, sometimes you are run into situations where your field of focus is too shallow, and things start to blur out.. and you cannot close down the apture enough for fear of losing precious shutter speed and get handshake/motion blur..
If you do not arlready know, the DOF of a F/4 lens on a FF cam is almost equivalent to the DOF of a F/2.8 lens of the same FOV on a APS-C cam.
From what I read what you post so far, I am inclined to think you are still not strong in your basics. I would strongly suggest you keep to your current gear, and improve your skills and knowlege first before even considering any jump.

Im too puzzled with what TS said abt unnatural DOF on dx. You claimed that wide angle is unnatural but yet u r still thinking abt buying a 16-35 on fx. Kinda confusing.
Your current setup is more than sufficient to capture nice landscape. I would rather spend the money on a good tripod, shutter release and some good gnd/nd filters which will give u better landscape pics than the norm.
