was trying out my bridge xs1 today and discover a blue halo at the center of the frame when shot skyward at some trees.
seems to be occurring only at certain focal length [80-105 35mm equiv]

also, seems to be better when aperture set to a smaller f number.

That's lens flare...due to the sun shining into your lens

Have u tried taking off the filter?

My suggestion is to turn away from the sun and shoot (e.g. sun behind you, not infront). If the blue halo did not appear, it really means it's flare.

Some ways to reduce flare is
- remove any filters attached (if any)
- Check your lens's front element to see if there are any stains (in particular fingerprint stains). These stains kinda will create flare too (at least to my experience)
- Change your composition.. in usual cases, shooting with sun infront of you is not recommended. Unless you are trying some creative backlighting.

Some tiny weeny blue roundish particle is stuck on your filter or lens?
