In the light of rising dengue fever stats, I wan to protect my home from mozzies. Apart of ensuring clearing any stagnant water at home, is there any thing I can buy for the home?

What about those plug in devices thst emit high freq?

from Charlie and The Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl:

The President sucked in his breath sharply. He also sucked in a big fly that happened to be passing at the time. He choked. Miss Tibbs thumped him on the back. He swallowed the fly and felt better. But he was very angry. He seized pencil and paper and began to draw a picture. As he drew, he kept muttering, 'I won't have flies in my office! I won't put up with them!' His advisers waited eagerly. They knew that the great man was about to give the world yet another of his brilliant inventions. The last had been the Gilligrass Left-handed Corkscrew which had been hailed by left-handers across the nation as one of the greatest blessings of the century.
'There you are!' said the President, holding up the paper. 'This is the Gilligrass Patent Fly-Trap!' They all crowded round to look.
'The fly climbs up the ladder on the left,' said the President. 'He walks along the plank. He stops. He sniffs. He smells something good. He peers over the edge and sees the sugar-lump. "Ah-ha!" he cries. "Sugar!" He is just about to climb down the string to reach it when he sees the basin of water below. "Ho-ho!" he says. "It's a trap! They want me to fall in!" So he walks on, thinking what a clever fly he is. But as you see, I have left out one of the rungs in the ladder he goes down by, so he falls and breaks his neck.'
'Tremendous, Mr President!' they all exclaimed. 'Fantastic! A stroke of genius!'
'I wish to order one hundred thousand for the Army immediately,' said the Chief of the Army.
'Thank you,' said the President, making a careful note of the order.

Those high frequency things are all myths. At most, you can use lemongrass, or the units that emit a mild pesticide.

use mosquito coils .

for smokers, you have your own personal mosquito repellent. they won't hang around to get cancer

wear light coloured clothes..
keep urself cool..dun sweat....mozzies attract to ur body heat.
dun scratch the area where u got bitten..mozzies attract to the heat signature..
dun use mosquito coils..u may have heard these wart off mozzies..but it also shorten ur life just by inhaling the fumes.
if u wanna kill them..
dun sqwat them..cos blood will come out and dirty ur bed..clothing..walls..
use bottles to capture them..life span is around 3 days without food/water/oxygen.died already just open bottle and empty it.
if a mozzie is sucking ur blood..dun hurry to smash them. rather hold ur muscles in that area..so the mozzie cant pluck out the needle..u can squat them at ur own leisure.

From a well experience mozzie hunter killer at Bedok Reservoir.

pic uploaded is 2 days harvest..have since resolved the case by NEA and guys...after constant calls/emails..post to stomp(didnt get publish though..) strait times(didnt get publish too..)

coils only expel, it doesn't kill them, dont waste money.

best way to kill mosquitoes. spray your room with insecticide like mad, close the door.

on yeah, cat nip plant is good for expelling mosquitoes. but good luck finding them in Singapore.

Go natural. Buy mosquito plant and put at home.

Go to the nursery and buy some citronella plants

You are already aware and taking action. So the problem of breeding is not arising from your home. The problem is your neighbours' homes. If your neighbours unknowingly breed mosquitoes which then fly into your home to bite your family.

So we have to move away from such neighbors. Too bad property prices are so high

I read that citronella plant does not repel mozzies. It's lemon grass that does the work. Citronella oil comes from lemon grass

Just curious to find out what you are using to catch the mozzies. Doesnt seem like the usual PET bottle trap here..

im using those bottles for lab test of poo/urine..

these are extras unused ones.

to catch them..get close to about 7cm..then rush in to trap them.

wa your mozzies will guai guai stay and let you catch uh? mine fly all over the place like nuts.

and if i spray, there's a greater liklihood of the spray getting into my eyes than onto them. :(

catching them is way much easier than spraying(try breathing in those fume..), wacking it(dirty ur clothes,ur own body if wack too hard)
dun have sudden movement..approach them slowly.

thanks to the months back in Feb-March..thats how i got my training...lol...

There are some green coloured gel from Fix-it DIY shop. I bought a couple to put near my fish tank. Seems quite effective and has nice fragrance too.
