Sad day for LucasArts who used to produce some of the top grossing games in the '80s and '90s even before there was Star Wars for PC.

Grim Fandango remained amongst some of the best that I ever played even till now.

The yet to be released Star Wars 1313 has been cancelled too. I was really disappointed in Disney for the stupid move.

WTF.... my X-Wing, Tie-Fighter and Jedi games are now but memories.... so is the Monkey Island series...

"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened." - Obi Wan Kenobi, destruction of Alderaan, Episode IV

Nah... Clone War was lame and going no where anyway... better to rationalize and focus on Mickey.

Do you even know what LucasArts does?

He doesn't even know what LucasArts is in the first place, if he can only think of the Clone Saga.

If you don't shoot off your mouth so quick nobody is gonna say you are mute. Just sayin' :D

Agreed. I dusted my shelves the other day and saw Manny Calavera looking straight at me. Sigh

lol give uncle chance la.

I wonder if the sg office got affected by the layoffs.

I can see why Lucas, as a standalone company, would want to fix its games division. But Disney has no such need. It has a games division already, it doesn’t need to try to fix LucasArts’ problems. It’s sad when hundreds of people lose their jobs, but organizations that are no longer competitive need to die to make room for ones that are. If it’s Star Wars games you’re after, there’s no reason an external developer can’t handle them.

LucasArts makes more than just Star Wars games. In fact, my two favourite games from them aren't from that franchise. One's another Lucas property and the other is an original.

still remember playing full throttle when i was a kid. lol then monkey island.

"And if you’re nostalgic for the great old Lucas games of old, like Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, this is good news for you. First of all, the people who made those games are already working at Telltale or Double Fine making exactly what you wish Lucas was still making. If you want a new Grim Fandango, a shift to a licensing-only model makes it more likely that Disney will look to cash in on that latent demand."

Actually. That not true. You will need to first get Disney to agree with you (on royalties you have to pay them) that you can use the Star Wars copyright stuff.

Only with that agreement then, you may proceed with the game development.
