This is wrong.
If the product is badly made in the factory and contains a defective component that will cause failure/crack, then there is no question of warranty being valid or not.
Even if your camera is past the warranty date, the manufacturer must acknowledge that they sold you a lemon and make good.
In addition they must apologise profusely for causing you so much trouble.

Since when was a bank statement issued to support a simple camera purchase? Which planet did this Oly guy come from?

Based on the country code given he should be from "earth"

Just to report, I went to the Olympus CSC today to pick up my EP-11 eyecup.
Asked this guy Micheal about sending in the OM-D to replace the screen.

According to Micheal, it will take around 5 working days if parts are available, or 3-4 weeks if parts not available.
And he can't tell me if parts are available until I send it in, because it's the technician who will assess and tell him how long.
What you need for sending in are the warranty card and the proof of purchase, which can be an invoice, receipt etc. They just need to make sure it's within warranty.

For me, I'm still on the fence about sending in.
Can't see myself living without the OM-D for 5 days, and the "problem" isn't really that much of a problem. @@

Just send my OMD to Olympus Singapore at Valley Point today for crack screen frame issue. Drop in at noon and went for lunch at the 1st floor cafe & back within the hour it was ready! Wow.. superb service!! :D:D:D:cheers:

Cool! That's super fast!

Does the lcd screen got replaced also or just the frame only?

Olympus Singapore has also finally posted a notice on their website regarding this, dated 04/03/2013, the day anter above posted the post about quick turnaround:

Important Information for OM-D E-M5 Valued Customers | Olympus Imaging Singapore

maybe they only post this notice when they have obtained the parts to make the replacements...

I was there with Anter, was surprised so fast too. Anter called last week on the phone they did say so it can be fast if there's not much customer.

Frame only, relatively easy fix according to the technician, hence the short wait.

Just a little OT, but when you guys go to the Oly CS, are there a lot of people?
I've only been there once, and I was surprised that there were so few people there. I was 3rd in the queue!

I do know there are MANY Oly owners in SG, so is it because I was lucky that day, or is it because Oly cameras don't break down that much?

No q when we were there. It's like that whenever I visit, I suppose that's norm?

I just sent my OMD for the screen crack issue today but seemed to have a different experience from u....

I was told by the counter service personnel that the earliest I can collect my camera would be the next day :( So it isn't that fast after all.

On a side note, I tried calling the Olympus service centre serveral times before going there but no one picked up the phone. And when I reached the service centre, I kept on hearing the phone ringing but they just chose to ignore the phone calls.... doesn't seem like good service to me

just called and made an arrange with them to go down tomorrow after lunch, was told around 30 mins will be able to collect back the camera but I ask for servicing as well, need 5 working days before collecting.

Thanks for the sticky!
Will bring cam down next week for the replacement.

Just dropped at Olympus Service at Valley Point Shoppig Centre on 13th floor this morning.
All it took is 40 minutes to replace LCD.
Looks more solid than old small screws....
